Monday June 2

Opening Ceremonies

9.00: New ARC groups meet (Green Pilgrimage Network, Wildlife etc).

12.30: Coach depart from Shima Hotel for Ise (faith delegates to be in traditional robes)

From 12.00: Registration at the Shima Hotel

13.00: Coaches arrive at Jingu Kaikan, Ise

13.15: Lunch at Jingu Kaikan

Coach to Ise shrine

14.15– 15.15: Opening Ceremony

Theme: Celebrating Wisdom
Gagaku music and Sacred Dance


16.00: Formal procession of religious delegates in robes, crossing the bridge to the Grand Shrine of Ise.

16.30 – 18.00: Visiting Jingu: Opening purification blessing – presentation on Shinto understanding of pilgrimage and environment – briefing on Ise Jingu
18.00: Coach back to Shima

19.00-19.30: Reception

19.30-20.00: Performance of the Kagura dance

20.00: Dinner at Shima Hote;, hosted by Jinja Honcho

Tuesday June 3

Teachings and Practices of Faiths

8.30: Coach departs for Jingu Kaikan

9.30 – 11.15: Project Meetings: Green Pilgrimage, Sacred Forests, Wildlife

11.15: Coffee Break

11.30 – 12.30: Report back to Jinja Honcho on what different groups are going to do

12.30 – 13.30: Lunch

13.30 – 14.00: Music, dance, drama

14.00 - 17.30: Session Three: Jinja Honcho Symposium (up to 700 Shinto Priests, guests to arrive after lunch)
Keynote speech from member of the Imperial family
Other Speakers: Governor of the Prefecture, President Tanaka, Jinja Honcho; American Scholar, Robert Campbell; Shingon Buddhist

17.30:Coaches back to Shima Hotel

19.30: Formal Dinner at Shima Hotel hosted by the Daiguji

Wednesday June 4:

The Challenge of wisdom becoming action through values

8.30: Coaches Depart

9.30 – 10.30: Session Four: In what way can the wisdom of faith traditions help to shape a value based world, able to address issues of the environment? Keynote address from UN Deputy Secretary General, Olav Kjorven and discussion.

11.00 – 13.00: Session Five: Sharing teachings to shape values and lifestyles

12.30 – 13.30: Lunch

13.30 – 15.30: Session Six: Sharing values in order to launch action plans – long term plans: GPN: wildlife

15.30: Walk from Jingu Kaikan to Ise Jingu

16.00: Closing Ceremony: Kagura at Ise Jingu

17.15: Coaches back to Shima Hotel

19.30: Farewell Dinner at Shima Hotel
