Celebrate St Francis's Day by pledging to care for Creation

October 4, 2011:

Many Christians around the world are celebrating St Francis's Day today with renewed pledges to care for God’s Creation.

The US-based Catholic Coalition on Climate Change two years ago embraced St Francis - patron saint of ecology - as the logical inspiration for a recommitment to the ancient tradition of human stewardship and for a renewed sense of purpose to solve the climate crisis.

This year it is encouraging even greater participation in the Catholic Climate Covenant - The St Francis Pledge to Care for Creation and the Poor. It has also produced new resources for those celebrating the Feast of St Francis.

To find out more about the new tools it has developed to assist parishes, schools, individuals, and organisations in taking the Pledge, click here.
