What do Christians believe?

Christians believe everything was created by God. They believe that from early times God has spoken to his people, trying to guide them and show them the right way.

The Trinity

Most Christians worship God as three persons in one:
God the Father who created the world
God the Son who is Jesus Christ
God the Holy Spirit the power of God at work in the world

Apostle’s Creed

The creed sets out the twelve key beliefs of Christians:

• God the Father is the maker of heaven and earth
• His only son is Jesus Christ
• Jesus was born to the Virgin Mary by the power of the Holy Spirit
• Jesus suffered under Pontius Pilate; was crucified, died and was buried
• He descended to the dead
• He rose from the dead on the third day
• He ascended to heaven and will come again
• Christians believe in the Holy Spirit,
• the holy catholic church,
• the communion of saints,
• the forgiveness of sins,
• the resurrection of the body and life everlasting
