Faith statements against the illegal wildlife trade

HRH Prince Philip meets representatives of faith groups at Buckingham Palace

In February 2013 HRH Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, held an audience at Buckingham Palace to receive statements from 34 faith groups concerning the illegal wildlife trade. These statements, which mostly came from faith groups in Africa and Asia but also Europe and the US, outline both the theological basis for opposing such a trade as well as making a commitment to work with partners, including ARC and WWF International, to end it .

In 2012 ARC launched a historic partnership with WWF and fifty religious leaders from sub-Saharan Africa aimed at tackling the illegal trade in animal body parts from endangered species.
