a.) Curricula and Buildings: Faith Schools

*** What potential is there for environmentally auditing the schools under your care?

*** What can you do to put more (and better) teaching about the environment into the curriculum?

b.) Conservation Policy: Educational Buildings

*** Do you have a water conservation policy or energy conservation for your educational buildings?

*** What do you do about waste – paper, food and sewerage?

c.) Youth Organisations and Camps:

*** Are there faith-associated youth organisations where a greater awareness of looking after the earth could also be integrated?

d.) Eco-Twinning:

*** Do your faith schools twin with other schools overseas or in different parts of the country? Could you start talking about your environmental concerns and celebrations and challenges with them, and bring those onto the agenda? SOME IDEAS AND EXAMPLES

* A Muslim group in Birmingham organised a Cleaner Medina campaign with youth organisations to clean up the city. The event was designed to bring in all ages of Muslim youth
* An Orthodox Seminary in Poland has introduced the environment as a major element of their training agenda. Details to be added.

* A Muslim group in Birmingham organised a Cleaner Medina campaign with youth organisations to clean up the city. The event was marked with film and rap music, and was designed to bring in all ages of Muslim youth, and have fun with the environmental message. Link herefor more details.

* Timetable Crash: “All Hallows” is a private Catholic preparatory Forest School in Somerset, England celebrated “Earth Day” on April 22. The entire timetable for all pupils centred around ecological activities, included cleaning up a nearby stream (and studying the wildlife in it); dyeing material with natural ingredients like onion; using that to make prayer flags on which environmental prayers were written, bringing in an artist to work with the pupils on making a bird out of willow (a local material).
